Goals and why we set them

Goal! It’s a great thing by itself when your team does it – but have you stopped to wonder why?
Of course a goal is a great thing by itself. It’s an achievement. It’s also a step on a journey to win the game, then the league, then the championship. You probably get the idea by now: a goal is something that has a purpose beyond itself and helps towards some other, larger ambition.
Goals also help manage our single most precious resource: time!
There’s only so much time available to us, so the question becomes: am I making the best use of my time? Am I scoring goals that will lead me towards the future, or am I putting effort into the wrong things?
Life and leisure and time with friend and family are important, because one of your goals should be to have a healthy and happy life for you and those around you.
So goal setting becomes an essential tool to test if something is a good use of time.
